the other mornign for example there was a long line of traffic due to road works, a horse and rider on the road, in amongst the traffic, round the corner sped an ambulance, saw the horse and had to slow down

does this worry you as horse riders?

In 40 years I've never encountered emergency services whilst out riding - I've had plenty of arseholes fly past at 40mph though. :(

An ambulance passing wouldn't even be on my radar - if it were - I'd hear it from a mile away. It's Susan in her 3-series I worry about.

Worried that the driver saw the horse and slowed down? So long as they cut the sirens at the same time it’s surely part and parcel of riding on the road.

do ambulances slow down normally?
or has this scenario not happened to you?

Like a PP most horse riders are far more worried about Susan in her 3 series (or A4, Yaris, Range Rover...bad driving is not manufacturer dependant 😀)

Most emergency services will slow down if they can - mainly because they tend to try to avoid creating new emergencies when they’re on the way to one!

But, in nearly 30 years of riding I’ve only encountered the emergency services once so it’s not a major issue for me.
