Sending "signed for, 1st class delivery" for a letter to a PO box

Hi,
The address I used to send a letter to is a PO box address. However, it's an important letter so I opted for the "signed for, 1 st class delivery" by Royal Mail. On the tracker, it's been over 2 weeks now and it doesn't say any further than the post office I sent from and a "we've got it" at the top.. no confirmation of it received nor signed. Is this the norm for PO box addresses? I've contacted royal mail so awaiting their response but thought I'd ask here too.

Some PO Boxes are collection only by the PO Box holder. The office where I used to work some PO Box holders would collect daily some every four weeks. If it was 1st class recorded it won't change to signed for on the system until it is collected. However ours used to be if it wasn't collected after 7 days it was returned to sender stating uncollected, exceeded time period. Procedures may have changed though .

I just renewed my drivers license. It was a P.O. Box and I sent it signed for. The tracker took a couple extra days than normal but it was then marked as "signed" and the location given as the post office in that area. So must have been collected and signed for.

Remember, signed for isn't tracked at every stage. Just beginning and end. So until someone signs for it, the tracker won't update from the point of origin.

Special delivery is tracked at every stage so they can pinpoint when someone goes missing, but with signed for it will say your starting post office until it's signed for. If it never changes to signed for then it's fine missing. But the post office will be able to check if that P.O. box has been emptied in the last couple of weeks and if it has, then they will know yours went missing.

If its been over 2 weeks you can raise it as lost and ask Royal Mail to look for it. The Post Office counter staff told us we should use fully tracked for a post box or when posting documents, its a lot more expensive than signed for.

I'd like to know if anyone has experience of sending letter via 'signed for first class', it never saying on the tracker that it's been delivered, but actually it has been delivered.

Or, if it never says it's been delivered then it must be lost and I should send the letter again?
