Bleed at 13 Weeks

Hi,
This is my first post to this site.
Just a bit curious as I’m currently 13 weeks (this is my first child) but not sure if I’m getting the right answers from medical staff etc.
So yesterday I had a bleed phoned my midwife who’s phone was off so I text her but still not had a reply. That’s not the problem but her phone seems to be off a lot, is this normal?
So I then phoned my local maternity centre which they told me to phone if I have any problems and all day the phone was engaged Confused. So finally I phoned the maternity unit at the hospital and she said as I haven’t had my first scan and I’m under 20 weeks they won’t be able to see me. But said when I have my first scan then I’ll be under maternity there (I get this part) my first NHS scan is on Tuesday... so she told me to phone back and go through to gyno (sorry if this is the wrong spelling I don’t know how to spell it Blush) got through to them and the lady was like as you’re 13 weeks it is normal to have a bleed but because my scan is on Tuesday she told me I only need to go over to them if it gets heavier or wait until Tuesday as there is no one to do ultra sounds over the weekend Hmm bit strange... .
Please don’t think I’m nagging as I’m not but I just felt really upset that no one really took it seriously I spent all day worrying and I couldn’t go through Friday- Tuesday in that state so I booked a private scan they got me in right away and reassured me that baby is doing fine. Massive weight lifted off my shoulders.
As I’m unsure as this is my first child is it normal to have a midwife that’s phone is always off or doesn’t reply?
Sorry for the long post, yesterday was just a bit of an event! Blush
Thank you! x

Sorry you went through such a scary experience and I’m glad your baby is fine. Bleeds like that are terrifying.

I wouldn’t see it as an issue that your midwife’s phone always seems to be off - she’s probably in clinics or travelling or doing house visits most of the day. They’re really busy.

It is shit when you’re at this early stage and sort of falling through the gaps in the system though. Really not fair for you to be sent round the houses and phoning umpteen different departments like that.

Thank you!
Glad it’s normal! I’m such a worrier anyway.
Thank you for the reassurance! x

Midwives in my area do 4 days on 4 days off and when they aren't working they don't turn their phones on.

It's really rubbish and scary to bleed but unless you're getting cramps and are soaking through a pad there is usually no reason to worry.

Oh maybe that’s what they do here then, thank you!
