Hi, This is my first post to this site. Just a bit curious as I’m currently 13 weeks (this is my first child) but not sure if I’m getting the right answers from medical staff etc. So yesterday I had a bleed phoned my midwife who’s phone was off so I text her but still not had a reply. That’s not the problem but her phone seems to be off a lot, is this normal? So I then phoned my local maternity centre which they told me to phone if I have any problems and all day the phone was engaged [confused]. So finally I phoned the maternity unit at the hospital and she said as I haven’t had my first scan and I’m under 20 weeks they won’t be able to see me. But said when I have my first scan then I’ll be under maternity there (I get this part) my first NHS scan is on Tuesday... so she told me to phone back and go through to gyno (sorry if this is the wrong spelling I don’t know how to spell it [blush]) got through to them and the lady was like as you’re 13 weeks it is normal to have a bleed but because my scan is on Tuesday she told me I only need to go over to them if it gets heavier or wait until Tuesday as there is no one to do ultra sounds over the weekend [hmm] bit strange... . Please don’t think I’m nagging as I’m not but I just felt really upset that no one really took it seriously I spent all day worrying and I couldn’t go through Friday- Tuesday in that state so I booked a private scan they got me in right away and reassured me that baby is doing fine. Massive weight lifted off my shoulders. As I’m unsure as this is my first child is it normal to have a midwife that’s phone is always off or doesn’t reply? Sorry for the long post, yesterday was just a bit of an event! [blush] Thank you! x
