Kids Passport

Looking for advice please.
Wanting to book a holiday with my kid abroad for the first time but ex wont give me the passport to book a holiday
He says "he will let me have it when I know where and when I am going"???
I have already told him I don't know where I fancy going yet but he will know as soon as I do

I will not be held to ransom just so his dad can continue to have control over us
Where do I stand regarding getting a new passport for my kid
Techically its not lost but I have no access to it

I am seeing my lawyer on Tuesday regarding other issues so just looking for advice before then

You can book without it. You only need passport details a short while before you fly. Can your solicitor formally request it once you have booked.

You can't get another passport if your child already has one. Also do you and your child have the same surname? If not then you will need to take their birth certificate with you proving you are their mother

You need to resolve this with your Ex as you may have bigger problems to deal with

I know I can book holiday without it but if he cant hand passport over now what are the chances he will when I really do need it

you can cancel the passport if you say you lost it then get another.

@weeman13 - You can declare it lost or stolen. You need to complete a separate form, not sure if you can do it online.
If different surnames, then you definitely need his birth certificate to travel.

I don't think HMPO will care much about your situation - I don't mean that harshly. The best bet would be to raise it with your solicitor to then raise it with him/his solicitor.

It might just get overly complicated/extra drama if you cancelled the passport without your ex knowing. Not sure on your situation and wouldn't want to assume anything ☺️ Lol well you can get your monies worth out of them!

I don't want any drama.. that's why I don't understand why he has done this... utterly pointless as far as I can see... it's a control issue for him... he wants and I have already agreed to wee man going on holiday for 2 weeks with him so why cause grief???? Oh I know.... he is a man🤣🤣🤣.. the whole situation is laughable and I will just make other plans via the lawyer... ..
