What's making your Friday fun? (Lighthearted)

I'm a bit giddy tonight. This may be down to weeks of sleep deprivation and I'm just really sad but .....

DH gone for a weekend at friends and taken the dogs. So no smelly, messy slobbery two or four legged people for the next two nights.
Granny babysitting our youngest.
The other two are eating pizza, watching Paddington and just simultaneously declared they are tired and would like to put their pyjamas on and go to sleep.

I have some gin, a ready meal from m&s a freshly made bed, and about six hours of tv to binge watch after the first baby or child or man interrupting bath for a long time.

It's the small things.

So what's making you happy and a bit less fucked off tonight? Hit me!

Reading text messages from my sister - she is living at my parents at the moment. She’s sending me updates about a row my parents are having. My Dad really really wants to put a urinal in the conservatory. My Mum doesn’t want that. It’s very funny.

Watching The Gruffalo with a glass of cava with kids before bed. The calm before the storm! Grin
Then finishing the bottle when they're in bedWineWineWine

Eatmycheese · 11/01/2019 18:30

@Epiphany52 I'm with your mum.
@LloydColeandtheCoconuts the gruffalo and cava sounds like a pretty good combination Wink and enjoy the rest.

We've had some pizza throwing but it was fleeting.......

Been out for a Champagne Afternoon Tea with my Mum. Hic!

coolcrispwinter · 11/01/2019 18:33

As well as my run today I have decided (yesterday) to try the Wim Hof method after watching interviews and clips about it on YouTube. I managed my cold water bath much better than yesterday when I just managed to dip my feet hands and forelegs in the water and it was agonisingly icily cold. Today I actually sat in it (still very shallow) and it did not feel so icy. Actually felt quite normal temperature when I'd sat there a minute or so. But I feel fantastically exhilarated doing it. Happy, less stressed. Looking forward to furthering my little experiment tomorrow. Grin

On my way to visit my friend... We are going to eat fish & chips and catch up with The Good Place 😊. I love my friend, fish & chips and The Good Place!

LBOCS2 · 11/01/2019 18:34

My two year old has just fallen asleep. This has improved my afternoon immeasurably as she was being extremely unpleasant to be around (I had resorted to tidying the DC's bedroom in order to avoid her). I know I'm storing up trouble for bedtime but right now I really don't care!

IndigoSpritz · 11/01/2019 18:35

I'm at work now but I managed about ten minutes piano practice before I left home. I almost mastered a tune I've been struggling with for a fortnight. That pleased me coz I was having doubts over my progress and my teacher yesterday disagreed with my assessment !

Drogosnextwife · 11/01/2019 18:37

Chinese, just finished, watching coco (love a good cry at the end)
The thought of not having to get up for anything in the morning and my Saturday morning bacon Sandwhich, cooked to crispy perfection.
Playing Mario cart monopoly when ds1 gets back from football training, not looking forward to that so much 😂

Fairylightfurore · 11/01/2019 18:40

In my PJ's, kids in the bath, shin his way out for the night, I'm looking forward to an uninterrupted evening of me time. Will make some phone calls then binge watch my shows on Netflix with a large cup of tea. Rock and roll - can't wait Grin

Drogosnextwife · 11/01/2019 18:40

Epiphany52

That is really funny!

Epiphany52 · 11/01/2019 20:46

Yes I know! My Dad is just crackers. I keep telling my sister she should write a blog on all the crazy stuff he does/wants to do

Fluffiest · 11/01/2019 21:17

I'm just out of the bath and am eating a Cadbury creme egg whilst sitting on my bed in my fluffiest pajamas.

I am going to go downstairs in a minute and have my third glass of wine this evening before crashing into my lovely bed.

ForalltheSaints · 11/01/2019 21:24

It's Friday!

DrWhy · 11/01/2019 21:39

A rather random one but seeing my DH finally managing to get our toddler to sneeze out the inch of green bean he’d shoved up his nose at dinner! DH has spent the best part of an hour trying to spot the problem with a head torch then blow it out, get DS to blow it out, put him in a hot shower to make his nose run etc etc. pepper finally worked! DH had really upset me last night with the way he behaved over another toddler related incident and tonight had reminded me that actually although he’s not perfect he’s kind, patient, capable and caring and I am just a bit hormonal and over sensitive with the new baby.
Never thought that could be a highlight pre-parenthood! Confused

Purplewithgreenspots · 11/01/2019 21:43

Reading a good book with a beerGrin

Sillybilly1234 · 11/01/2019 21:51

Maltesers and red wine

AckYourHole · 11/01/2019 22:12

Mumsnet and the 𝑲𝒆𝒕𝒐 thread Smile

Eatmycheese · 11/01/2019 22:36

@DrWhy I'm so glad the green bean bit reappeared! Hurrah. One of my nephews got a pea stuck up a nostril once that involved high drama.

Happy Friday one and all!
What is the keto thing my gin has kicked in and I'm befuddled

OP posts:
DrWhy · 11/01/2019 22:54

@Eatmycheese high drama indeed! I was feeding the baby at the table, DH was clearing up and DS was half finishing eating half messing about. I heard wailing and him poking his nose then he sneezed so we cleaned him all up thinking he just had an itchy nose. He told DH at bathtime that he’d put a green bean and salmon up his nose... cue the start of headtorch examinations! Turns out he’d managed to get an inch of green bean practically out of sight Envy When it was finally sorted listening to DH saying ‘where does food go?’ then DS saying ‘in mouth’ DH ‘show me’ DS points to mouth ‘and where does food not go?!’ DS ‘nose’ DH ‘show me?’ DS points to nose and both of them laughing about it, was just lovely.

Eatmycheese · 11/01/2019 22:59

@DrWhy very sweet and indeed all's well that ends well.
Head torches are a godsend aren't they? We used DH's to assess the eldest's blocked waxy ear the other week. We needed two pairs of hands to hold him still poor blighter

Dd1 has been cleared to go back to school by her consultant, following 6 week recovery from surgery.

Builder friend finally got time to fix dd1's bedroom door and check the leak into bathroom ceiling - luckily a broken roof tile and not a completely knackered flat roof.

Have the kids tonight so missing out on my usual Friday night...but getting a bit more rest, catching up on loads of TV and enjoying being far less stressed than I've felt for a few weeks.

halfwitpicker · 11/01/2019 23:12

Celebrating that the crappest week in January is over. Survived, jet lag and all.

Supposed to be mega cold here this weekend (live abroad) but am actually looking forward to the woodburner on, a casserole and not doing anything Smile

Purplewithgreenspots · 12/01/2019 00:33

Thinking about all the lovely sleep I should be having. Damn my book!

Christmasfairy07 · 12/01/2019 00:39

Had my hair restyled & have gone back to red which I love. Had a lovely chat with my hairdresser who is fab. And I have just munched my own body weight in crunchy nut cornflakes! I may not sleep but it was totally worth it!
