Bike crashed into my car, what now?

DCs primary school is close to a secondary school. Since term started, a group of 20 boys on bikes ride past causing mayhem. It's like Mad Max fury road, but on bikes. Today I was sat in a queue in my car, stationary and break lights on, as they passed. One crashed into the back of my car. Lots of 'shit, go go' and the twats all peddled off as quick as the could down the wrong side of the road. I have a huge dent and scratch on my boot from their handle bars.

I'm considering waiting outside the school on Monday morning to look for a blonde idiot with an orange bike.

I'd be speaking to the school and the police.

Well I'd tell the police for a start as they may have an idea of the identity of the kid. I wonder if you live near me as this is a big problem near a secondary school in town, started quite recently with groups of lads pulling lengthy wheelies in the middle of the busy road and weaving in and out the traffic. I've seen people sharing videos on local fb groups.

However even if you find out who it was they won't have insurance and the chances of them being made to pay for the damage are minimal I'd guess?

I (allegedly) scratched a stationary car on my bike when I was a student. I disputed it as I couldn't see any damage to the car, but the really unpleasant drivers stalked me and then took me to small claims court. Despite me being broke I still had to pay them about £300 (this was about 20 years ago). So, if you find him you can take him/ his parents to small claim.

Contact the school; my brother crashed into a stationary car on a bicycle at a similar age and my parents home insurance paid for both the damage to car and bike!

If the school can identify you can hope he has co-operative parents?!

This happened to me although I was parked - I couldn’t trace anyone and am just about to pay £400 to get my door repaired.
