Car seat question

Very boring.

We had a Maxicosi Pebble for number 1 and he’s now in the Pearl. We bought the isofix base that works with both so he’s still using the same isofix base from when he was tiny.

With number 2 on the way I obviously want to re-use the Pebble but we don’t have a spare Isofix. Should I buy one or is strapping the car seat in with the strap good enough and actually safe?

We won’t be using the car all that often and I can’t envisage actually ever removing the car seat from the car other than for cleaning.

As long as it is safely fastened then fastening with an isofix does not make it any safer. The isofix is suppose to make it easier to fit the car seat correctly.

I have the same car seats and I use the seat belt to fasten the pebble in for DD. It’s just as safe but it’s a lot of hassle to get in and out without the isofix

I had the same problem my DS was 2 when DD with born and using the pearl. I ended up getting a cybex s fix for him as it lasts until he is 12 as belting in the pebble was annoying. Then DD can go into the pearl once she is big enough. However from everything I read it’s just as safe to belt in however I struggled to get DD in and out if the pebble when it was belted in.

Thank you! OK, so I will just give it a go and if it’s a pain I’ll look into either buying another isofix for a bit or getting an all age seat.

I was feeling quite happy that the second one will be old enough for the Pearl at around the time number 1 is ready for a booster so I won’t need to buy any extra car seats (until the two are in boosters) ..!
