What sort of wire am I looking for...?

I need the end pictured on one end, and a big (not small, phone charger, sized) usb on the other to go in a usb plug. The end pictured goes in dd2's nightlight but the wire I have isn't long enough to reach her shelf. I have no idea what to type into ebay to find a longer one

A usb extender will do the job...it's ok to plug one into the other, isn't it?

The other end's a cylinder shape, about 1cm long if that gives any clues what it is

So I would imagine you're looking for a male DC connector but obviously I don't know what diameter.

I would try googling Male DC connector to usb 2m or whatever length you actually need, and see if that looks right. Does the nightlight have a big plug? If so it may have a transformer (I think) in it, so just plugging into a normal USB plug may not work.

The nightlight didn't come with a plug, just the wire (or you can use batteries but it's guzzling those a bit)

I expect it will be fine in that case, never any guarantees but fingers crossed!

If not, I'll contact Smiggle and see what they say as there was definitely no plug in the box when we took the light out & flat-packed the box for the recycling.

A usb extender will be by far the simplest answer. You can get them in many lengths

Bonus is you can still use the extender for other things after you are finished with the night light.

Plug wise, any usb plug/hub will do, and again its reusable after you're finished with the night light.
