PILs not checking visit dates

FIL and SMIL live in Spain. They are retired. They have a habit of booking flights to visit us without first checking if the dates suit us. It's a pain but generally not a problem.

They have told us that they are visiting in March. DH is away for 2 of the 3 days. We have a 5yo.

My question is, do I suck it up and host them so they can see as much as possible of DS? Or concoct a reason for them to stay with MIL who lives 15 minutes walk away and would happily have them?

SMIL is very helpful but I'm an introvert and much as I like them I want time to myself once DS is in bed.

Unless you have invited them - specifically want to see them then
your DH should be saying sorry I'm away, heres the dates we'll be around( whenever DH is around.)...
They will not learn if you dont do anything....

averythinline I would love to do that but I don't think DH can bring himself to. DH has abandonment issues due to FIL moving abroad when he was 10.

FIL is very self-centred (he is the favourite of 6 DC).

I might just palm them off on MIL as not having space in the evening is my main problem. One of the days is a school day, so they'd not see DS all day anyway.

Oh, and I don't need help with me and DS stuff. I meant SMIL will make coffee and help clear the table.
