4500 jobs to be slashed Shock I live in a part of the country where JLR employs a huge number of people and it's definitely going to hit hard....anyone potentially affected?

Ficking hell that's a lot

My step-dad potentially, although I think he has been hoping for voluntary redundancy. If he is given the option, I can only hope that he gets the payout he is hoping for (I cant see it myself)

My nephew works at JLR Halewood. Hope he’s ok.

It was always a case of when not if given the massive drop in demand for diesel engines.

Apparently they are largely managerial, IT and marketing. Some plants are likely to get more work - Hams Hall and Wolverhampton - focusing on the next generation of electric cars.

I thought the same Sad

Ford also announced rationalisation today. Changes. In UK, but the imminentjob losses are in mainland Europe.

DH works in Honda as a driver, they are a bit nervous about cuts.

LittleLannister · 10/01/2019 17:59

My DH works at Castle Bromwich, Roy our mill is saying that management are going first (1 in 3) then downwards from there, my DH is what they call a track rat (construction) so should (hopefully) be unaffected

*rumour mill

Don't even live in that area, but DH works for a national company that has contracts with them based on production volume. Our income could be directly affected. Obviously, that's not as bad as for those losing jobs. I'm just pointing out how far this will reach.
