Positive diet thread - the foods I've said no to this week

I'm on the usual painful, boring January diet thing I do every year, dreaming of a bikini body for June. What I've found interesting is just how much temptation I DON'T give into but don't celebrate.

I'll give my list, you can give yours if you are also going through this January rite of passage!! This is ONE WEEK.

  • canteen roast potatoes that were served with meat
  • a buffet of crisps/biscuits/cake at work for someone's birthday
  • a glass of my favourite wine dh lovingly poured for me and left in front of me
  • the cookies my kids begged me to make with them (and the batter!)
  • the free treat canteen dessert
  • the christmas cake that dh got out last night
-the frozen yogurt and sauce that dh bought for the kids as a treat after ds had his stitches out

I would have eaten ALL that before! I'm realising it is just loads of tiny decisions that make for weight loss, but each one is quite hard. However, looking back at the mountain of food you did turn down in a week is quite motivating, as it would have been eaten by now and sitting as fat on a part of my body!

Anyone want to offload with me?

Yes! Great idea for a thread - I am also on the Jan diet having allowed my weight to creep up over the past 6mths.

So far this week I have said no to:

Roast potatoes with Sunday Roast chicken
Glass of wine (or more!) with friends
ALL the chocolates still at home after Christmas
McDonalds that dd was having for tea when we were very late home one evening (had soup & brown bread instead!)
Crisps

And also a BIG one for me - I have said NO to either eating out or buying lunch out every day this week and have brought a sandwich from home, with a piece of fruit and water! That is INCREDIBLE for me and I plan to keep it up!

This thread is making me hungry Grin

I've held strong and resisted a Cadbury cream egg, a packet of jelly beans and a round of office cakes.

I’m 5:2ing so it’s a long list Grin. Today: cookies with a friend, pizza for lunch, sugary coffee, likely a curry for dinner. Instead it’s been coffee so far today, and I’ll have some dhal with cauliflower later.

Another weekend, another couple of birthday parties full of booze, pizza, fried lovely stuff. I ate carrots. So proud. Today it was stupid homemade biscuits I made myself because kids love baking so much, but I am plying gifting them on my colleagues! Bad, I know.
I am saying no to homemade pasta in tomato sauce tomorrow and have to watch people chow down on it while I eat salad. But! I am losing weight, so it's working at least!!!
