Organising ‘the’ cupboard

Sorry boring one - but looking for some thoughts. We’ve a cupboard in the hall to keep things like jackets, shoes, gloves, swimming kits etc.

It’s full-height, slightly wider than a normal door and nearly 2 metres deep - so plenty big but a total mess. Shoes all over the floor, jackets falling off hooks, bags of all sorts of kit everywhere. The space is really badly used, but I can’t seem to get my head around a better way to manage.

So... does anyone have any thoughts about what sort of storage system or kit I could use to get it into a shape where it is useful!!

I’m thinking Ikea - but haven’t really found a ‘system’ there (eg expedit etc) that seems to fit the need.

Thanks.

Get a big back of the door shoe rack for door and some coat hooks.

We had one of these shelving units in our hall cupboard. DH removed the top 2 or 3 shelves and got a broom handle. He secured this in place across the top in the middle. There are S hooks hanging off the pole now with our coats hung on.

My shoes are on the very top shelf and my handbag fits under the coats. DH then uses the two shelves below for his toolbox.

I will create a diagram as required and post!
