The monstrosity that is... All Bran!

I bought some thinking "that would be a healthy alternative to my usual toast laden with butter".

Oh my word!!! How can they sell such a disgusting tasting product? I'm pretty sure it's popular too. Why are there people choosing to eat this stuff? I'd rather be eat cardboard 🤢

Are there any All Bran fans on here? What are you adding to make this taste edible? I have a full box here. Do I need to throw it away or is there something I can add which will dramatically change the taste?

I love it, especially as a snack in front of the telly. Munching all the little sticks of fibre.. better than popcorn!

MargoLovebutter · 10/01/2019 16:58

It is utterly disgusting, tasteless pap. If vitamins and minerals weren't added, it would have zero nutritional value. This stuff used to be animal fodder, until Mr Kellogg discovered humans would pay more for it!!!!!

All high bran products do awful things to my insides and I am not fit to be in the company of other human beings if I eat them.

GVmama · 10/01/2019 16:59

It doesn't taste that great but it's fantastic for getting things moving if your digestion has been a bit sluggish.

We call it the All Bran Plan, have it with a pint of warm water for a few mornings and you're back to normal. If you don't drink the water it doesn't work as well.

Don't stay on the plan for too long though, no ones got time for that much shitting!!

Watto1 · 10/01/2019 17:01

Eating All Bran is far too much hard work first thing in the morning . Or at any other time for that matter. Revolting stuff!

HelmutFrontbut · 10/01/2019 17:01

Ooh I love it occasionally, I swear it makes me shit out stuff that's been stuck in my intestines since 1998 Grin

Threehoursfromhome · 10/01/2019 17:10

Bran fruit loaf? Personally I don't think it needs as much sugar as the recipe says.

Not bad buttered with a cup of tea.

I love it. So does 4 year old DS

TheSilveryPussycat · 10/01/2019 17:19

I add it to Weetabix and let them soak. I prefer Kellogs to own bran as they are a bit sweeter. But I really miss Bran Buds (shows age).

Babykoala1 · 10/01/2019 17:20

Little pellets from satan. Bran flakes are slightly more palatable but you only live once so choose coco pops instead

ScreamingValenta · 10/01/2019 17:21

I love it. I like to leave it in the fridge until it goes mushy before eating it. It's one of the few times I have any use for milk!

I love it!!

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 10/01/2019 17:31

Crunchy Bran is very very nice!!

OverwateredCheeseplant · 10/01/2019 17:32

YABU. It’s lovely, especially with a bit of honey on top.

Vitalogy · 10/01/2019 17:35

I agree about soaking it with milk for about 20 minutes, then add a bit more milk, fruit and sweetened yogurt. Strawberries are my favourite with it. Honestly it's delicious.

StoorieHoose · 10/01/2019 17:45

Another fan here. I do like to eat it like crisps - wee bowl on the side instead of real crisps

greenelephantscarf · 10/01/2019 17:57

I really want a bowl of crispy all bran with really cold milk now

actiongirl1978 · 10/01/2019 18:00

I have it on porridge, the downside being that the bran is SUPER sugary so your teeth feel a bit furry afterwards. It's my big breakfast treat though, not for dieting

Mishappening · 10/01/2019 18:06

Love it! - I have it with almond milk. Delicious! And, I might say, very efficacious!

Armi · 10/01/2019 18:42

It makes me think of that line from the Michelle Pfeiffer film, ‘Frankie and Johnny.’ The older waitress, eaten bran cereal, grumbles, ‘May as well just eat rope and yank it through.’

I do like it, though. Sprinkled with raisins and sugar, which might be why I have immaculate bowel function but hardly any teeth.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 10/01/2019 18:57

I had forgotten about All Bran, used to be given it at home, no reason other than I had to eat what I was given. It was OK soaked in milk.

Bran flakes, oh no - revolting stuff, like flakes of flimsy cardboard, nothing made them edible.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 10/01/2019 19:00

My mil makes a cake using all bran. She calls it toilet cake

I swear it makes me shit out stuff that's been stuck in my intestines since 1998 grin

These 2 posts made me proper laugh out loud GrinGrinGrin

PFB1 · 11/01/2019 14:20

Thanks for the suggestions! I honestly can't believe how much sugar is in it. It didn't taste sweet to me at all. Will attempt some of the suggestions and see how if I can finish the box. Can certainly say I won't be buying them again though 😅
