Is this enough food?

Sorry, I know there's a lot of this sort of question on here and they can get annoying. I’m recovered from an eating disorder and for the first time have been trying to just eat what I feel like instead of sticking to meal plans that I know are the correct amount of food.
I can’t/don’t want to weigh myself or count my own calories as I know it’s likely I will become obsessed and relapse. I’m not too worried about eating a little over or gaining a little but when I’m next weighed at the doctors really don’t want it to show that I’ve lost weight.

This is what I've eaten today:

Breakfast- Toast with jam
Snack- Banana and 3 dates
Lunch- A carrot, tbsp hummus, boiled egg, spinach and 3 crackers
Afternoon snack- Clementine and dark chocolate bar
Dinner- Cod fillet, sweet potato fries and peas

Could anyone tell me if this sounds not enough or about right?
Also I don’t eat meat only fish.

About right. There's nut jobs on here though that will tell you it's far too much. I'm an ex-anorexic and bizarrely worked on an ED unit and that's the kind of right amount we used to advise our patients That "normal people" ate. Sounds healthy and balanced. Good luck and well done. EDs are a bitch.

That's amazing well done! Thanks

That’s really good ! Well balanced and all sounds very tasty !
Good for you !

I think it sounds pretty good, the only thing I wonder about being a bit on the small side is the lunch. Perhaps adding something like a piece of mackerel or falafel to make it slightly more substantial?

Piggyhoolier · 09/01/2019 22:22

Sounds like you’re doing really well op, keep going. I think what you ate sounds spot on

Maursh · 09/01/2019 22:23

I also thought lunch sounded a bit on the light side. I would consider that more like a snack.

lljkk · 09/01/2019 22:30

I'd be starving on that.

SconNotScone · 09/01/2019 22:31

I think also it depends a bit on portion size. Eg. just one piece of toast probably isn't substantial enough, two would be better. Or a piece of toast, plus some greek yoghurts with nuts and berries.

lljkk · 09/01/2019 22:55

Breakfast- Toast with jam
1 piece of toast with jam & without butter (she didn't say butter) -> 150 kcal

Snack- Banana and 3 dates
-> 150 kcal

Lunch- A carrot, tbsp hummus, boiled egg, spinach and 3 crackers
-> 200 kcal

Afternoon snack- Clementine and dark chocolate bar
-> assume 1 clementine, depends on chock bar size, but ->160-260 kcal?

Dinner- Cod fillet, sweet potato fries and peas
-> depends on portion sizes and unstated additions like a pat of butter, but assuming -> 350 kcal

total = 1000 kcal/day. May be fine if OP's ED was binge eating without purging.

deste · 09/01/2019 23:08

That’s sounds about the same as I would eat in a day, I think it sounds fine. I’m 5’4 and 9 stone 1. Not exactly skinny.

Another Ed sufferer here. Sounds like you are doing really well. My only observation is that it looks to consist of lots of what I would deem safe(er) foods. Calories coming from fruit and veg, lean protein etc. Obviously there are carbs but not loads, one slice bread, 3 crackers, sweet potato fries guess it depends how many and how they are cooked. The point being you need a lot,of safe foods to get enough. I’m pretty sure that makes no sense but you might know what I’m getting at!

Hezz · 09/01/2019 23:12

I would eat more than that but well done and good luck in your recovery.
