Has anyone been to The Fat Duck?

We are going for my birthday at the end of January. Very excited as we have saved up for it and are treating it as a one in a lifetime experience.

Has anyone been? What's the dress code like? The wine menu looks far too expensive, is there anything normal like a house white, beer or spirits?

It was amazing - it's the one and only meal that made me cry (in a good way!) We went for the lunch sitting and my husband wore jeans and a shirt and that was fine - I can't actually remember what I wore, but it was something like a black jumpsuit.

We did the (cheapest) wine pairing, so I'm not sure about other drinks - I did see other people with bottles of wine at their tables though.

It was definitely a one in a lifetime experience though - we're both so glad we went.

I have been for dinner.
We dressed up as it was a special date
I wore a little black dress, my dp wore suit and tie.. Not black tie.
Food is incredible, we had wine pairings then more after dinner drinks.. Spent more on wine than food.. 😳
Enjoy it.

Are the wine pairing measures small? We need to drive early in the morning so don't want to spend a fortune on something that we regret

Ooooh that's a lovely treat OP, it's on my & DH's bucket list. We always say if we win the lotto we'll travel the world trying out Michelin Starred restaurants and we'd start with The Fat Duck. Enjoy every minute!

They let you share a wine pairing, athough we didn’t as OH was driving and I couldn’t drink all that alone Smile
Enjoy - it is amazing and worth every penny. Dress code is very relaxed.

We went for dinner to celebrate for 40th - stayed at the Waterside Inn round the corner. Really sozzled from the champagne at the start together with the wine pairing - just as well we only had to toddle down the road afterwards. Most memorable meal ever - wearing earphones listening to the sound of the sea was a tad pretentious imo (DH loved it!). Younger, more glamorous/international clientele than the Waterside Inn. When dining started, loads of diners on the neighbouring tables began taking photos of their food. Food was unique and fabulous. Loved the hot & cold tea! You'll not be able to experience this elsewhere whereas you can get superb French classic fare elsewhere. Received a birthday card signed by HB but that's all.

Had lunch at the Waterside Inn the next day before we went home. Older, more traditionally dressed clientele by far. Classic French fare was not memorable but the service was - I had a slice of cake with a candle on plus they coaxed us out to the summer gazebo thingy outside which was gloriously bedecked inside to have our coffee & petit fours. Definitely felt special there but not so at the Fat Duck - I was just another customer.

Oh my word I forgot about the champagne that a pp mentioned. It is just like drinking a cloud - so light!!

Its amazing...such a wonderful night. I wore dark denim jeans and a sparkly beaded amazing top with high heels.

I just looked at the website.... it’s very mysterious!! Can anyone explain or is that a spoiler? We don’t drink alcohol, does that matter?
