Endoscopy tomorrow threw mouth for lower bowel, sedative but still scared.

I have a serious gag reflex and I'm so scared tomorrow that even if I'm sedated I'll still cough, hand hold please

My DH had to have one a while ago. I've never met anyone with such a strong gag reflex as him, he's terrible, throws up at the drop of a hat. He was very nervous beforehand for the same reasons but was also sedated and doesn't remember any of it at all, so even if he had coughed and gagged he obviously didn't know anything about it. The first thing he remembers is 'waking up' surrounded by biscuit wrappers as they gave him a drink and something to eat after the procedure was done. He was a bit dopey for the rest of the day (make sure you're not allowed free access to your phone until you've really come round as he accidentally phoned all sorts of people and had some very random conversations with them!) but has no real recollection of the procedure at all and has said the bits he remembers were absolutely fine.

Good luck. I think it's one of those things where the idea is much worse than the reality. I hope it all goes well for you.

Thank you, I had surgery in April last year under general and was a right pain when I woke up, pulling out tubes and generally being offensive in my druggy state haha I hope I don't pull out any tubes I shouldn't this time, hope your husband is okay

I get the camera down my throat once a month to get botox in my tummy I get the seductive but it don't really do anything for me I'm fully awake and don't feel drowsy I gag if nething goes near my throat once they get the 1st part down it's ok they quite fast so don't give u a chance to gag I do however spew every time they take it out lol try not to worry like I say once it's down ur fine x
