Washable sanpro.....totally overwhelmed!

I'd like to move to washable pads but I'm totally overwhelmed with the choice and options!

I want total protection from leaks, something that stays in place all day and feels good. Preferable something that makes me happy to use as well, I know, sad. But something that looks fun, or just feels lovely or, I don't know, just not totally boring.

My biggest worry is they will feel enormous like the huge Kotex pads we got given in school a million years ago.

What are your favourites and how many will I need? Waterproof, fleecy, black, white? Help!

Also, what do you actually do with a used one? As in, can you talk me through, step by step from the minute you remove it from your pants? I can't quite visualise how it will work between bathroom and utility room and yet I want to stop using disposables for good. And what do you do at work and out and about??

To avoid dripfeed, I already use a mooncup but I need to use pads sometimes instead.

Google is just confusing me more. I need experience MN!

Hi, I started a thread in this yesterday! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3473134-Can-anyone-recommend-reusable-sanitary-pads

I have two basic packs from wish for light days and the cheeky wipes (cheeky mama) night time ones for nights.

When I'm at home I rinse off the used pad and put in in a plastic tub with some water mixed with shower gel inside. It's left there until washed. If I'm out I fold the used pad and put it in a waterproof bag (you get one with the wish pads). I then rinse it off and store it in my tub when I get home.

I have 12 of the light pads and 4 of the night ones. I normally wash them in the middle of my period and at the end , this makes sense for me as I use reusable baby wipes and wash those every other day anyway.
