If so can you also use bank of Scotland branches in person? Thanks.

That's good to know, I went into a Lloyd's branch as I thought they're all the same group but they couldn't help me.

They are the same group but work differently for brand servicing on the high street - Halifax can use Bos but Lloyd’s can’t use Halifax and vice versa. It’s different in Scotland as neither Hx or Lloyds has a high street presence there.

I’ve paid a cheque into my Halifax acc at a BoS branch but they couldn’t help me with opening an account.

There is a Halifax branch in Sauchiehall Street if you are in/near Glasgow

Halifax are giving £150 cash back for switching just now but our local bank is BOS which I need access to. Ideal I can pay in via BOS if I am with Halifax. Might as well get the £150.

You can often pay in through the pay office too

Whisky2014 · 09/01/2019 16:17

Yes but dont get mixed up the royal bank of Scotland like I did Blush

Bluearsedfly36 · 09/01/2019 16:21

My OH banks with Halifax, we live in Scotland. Yes you can use Bank of Scotland no probs 😊

Bluearsedfly36 · 09/01/2019 16:26

I'm with NatWest, thankfully I do a lot of my banking online. I can go to a Royal Bank of Scotland with my NatWest paying in book and pay cash and cheques in no problem, I can't go in with my card to check a balance or withdraw cash though. You can pay in through the Post office too if you have a paying in book. Also, you can withdraw cash at the Post Office if you're with Halifax or a Bank of Scoltland, same with NatWest and RBS.
