Anyone Been To Butlins Bognor Regis?

Never been to Butlins but really want to book somewhere with loads going on as DD10 gets bored easily. Is it expensive? We’d probably go in July as we took DD out of school last year & both got fined 😞Minehead is actually closer for us but I got put off as so many people seem to pick up sickness bugs there.
We would consider the hotel but more likely to choose an apartment & we’d go either self catering or bed & breakfast if it’s an option.

We went to Minehead and stayed in the new refurbished chalets. We got a ground floor one and it was lovely. We also took the dining plan and certainly didn't come down with anything. I would have recommended it. We went 2 years ago.

We went a few years ago and stayed in a Gold Apartment. It was great! We shopped at the Morrison’s over the road so we cooked/ate in the apt so didn’t try any of the restaurants. Lots to do, not sure how much there would be for a 10 yr old as DD was only one but I would recommend it.

What sort of holiday do you enjoy? What does your 11 year old like to do?

The pool is rather dated but they are building a new huge one. Not sure when it opens though.

I have been and stayed in the Wave hotel and a silver apartment on different visits. The hotel is lovely. The apartment was fine. Premium dining plan was fine, the restaurants on site are very expensive. There is a tiny supermarket on site which is awful

candlefloozy · 08/01/2019 20:19

I went over ten years ago. It was ok then. We stayed in the hotel which was lovely. I didn't have my own children then. But since having dd we go to minehead Butlin's all the time. We bloody love it! Had the dining plan last time and that was fine. Silver accommodation and that was fine. Basic but fine as we were only using it to sleep and shower.

The one thing I would say is that it is Loud. Even just walking around there is piped music

Bunnyhop1502 · 08/01/2019 20:25

We did not have a good experince. We stayed in a “gold” chalet which smelt of cheesy feet. The pool changing rooms were disgustingly dirty. I’m talking dirty nappies left on benches and muddy footprints. Never again.

I went last summer with an active 4yr old. Stayed in the Wave hotel, upgraded to premium meal plan. We loved it so much we are going back this summer, the new pool should open Easter. We went during the Tots theme, perfect for us, all activities / shows were aimed at under 5s. You might want to check you don't book then.

We have been to butlins and enjoyed it but have a look at potters resort in Norfolk it's really much better than Butlins.

Make sure you look for a family break as they have a full time table of activities every day and all included in the price you pay.

It's full Board and the food is really very nice and all staff are friendly and go out of there way to accommodate you.

Have a look on the website as the have all the activities they do

It is a bit more expensive than Butlins but definitely worth the money and no hidden cost once you get there

We are going back in may half term

AdamNichol · 09/01/2019 13:47

We live an ok drive from Butlins at Bognor, so go for day visits. Stayed over once, it was ok but Devon Cliffs Haven (or any Centre Parcs) are better.
It's not unduley expensive, but accommodation is very much you get what you pay for.

I really like it when an OP just bumps the thread without bothering to actually say thank you to those who have taken the time to reply Hmm

dogmum0 · 09/01/2019 14:33

I went on a works day out to Butlins (don't ask) was a dive, full of loud chavs. I imagine going on holiday there would be like spending a week at your local soft play.

HardAsSnails · 09/01/2019 14:39

OP, can you not see the replies you've had? It's a bit rude to bump without acknowledging those who've replied already.

gamerwidow · 09/01/2019 14:44

We’ve been 3 times and we’re back for a fourth time this year. We normally stay in a silver apartment but are thinking of doing the Wave hotel this time round because I know DD will enjoy the GamePod.
It’s great for kids (my DD loves the wresting, the fairground and the pool) and very near to the beach.
It’s not a holiday id choose as an adult but DD really loves it.

gamerwidow · 09/01/2019 14:45

Ps last year we included the premium dining plan and the food was very reasonable.

gamerwidow · 09/01/2019 14:46

Pps we normally do a long weekend rather than a weeks stay

Christmasfairy07 · 09/01/2019 17:08

Not intending to be rude at all. I bumped because at that time there hadn’t been a lot of replies. Why is bumping a problem? And of course I am grateful for the replies thank you all 🙂

We go quite regularly at the minute it seems (twice last year!). We go to the Tots breaks where possible because the shows are right for our children (3 and 1 now), last year we saw Mr Bloom who was ace. This year the big show will be Mr Tumble. Our kids will love it. I'm not sure it's so great for older kids.

Christmasfairy07 · 09/01/2019 17:19

Just looked up Potters & it sounds fab! Quite a trek from where we live in the South West but we could always break the journey. Think I’ll order a brochure
