Chapter books for a 5/6 year old boy?

DS is 5.5 and loves reading, but is growing out of his old favourites (Julia Donaldson, Oi Cat etc). He has a bedtime story from me every night and then reads independently until he falls asleep. This week, I've read him Peter Pan and Esio Trot, and he read Fantastic Mister Fox on his own last night (he's quite into Roald Dahl at the moment and has asked me to read him Charlie and the Chocolate Factory next).

I'm looking for books to read to him but particularly books he can read independently, and would love to hear your recommendations!

You can get Winnie the Witch as Chapter books, rather than picture books.

Paddington bear?

Has he read the Julia Donaldson chapter books (The Snake Who Came To Stay, Mr Birdnest and the House Next Door)?

We have read endless Beast Quest, Dinosaur Cove and Magic Tree House (not 13 story treehouse at this age).

Try the Bear and Rabbit books.

Mr Gum (although my 6 year old isn't as keen on these but I'm sure ds1 liked them at that age)
Jeremy Strong books (My brother's famous bottom was a big hit)
Jonny Duddle's Jolley Rogers series
