Just that really... it's 3 weeks away and thinking I'm leaving it too late

2-3 weeks max.
With a clear 'please reply by ….' of a week before or at least 3 days before any venue numbers deadline whichever is soonest.

If you send invite too early the reply job will go on a 'to do' list and then be forgotten.

I received on yesterday for a party that happened the day before. I supect they were given out just before the Christmas holidays but DD is only at nursery for mon and tue. Two full ‘working/school’ weeks should be fine though.

Depends on type of party/ time of year. One DC I send very early as the party is usually first week back at school after mid term break.

Others I do 2 weeks before.

I think 2 weeks is standard but we have received invitations less than one week before the party and most people have gone

I would rather have more notice although we would try to make it regardless. But I have a DH who works Saturdays so I need to organise childcare if DS1 needs to be accompanied and I can’t bring DS2.

Two to three weeks notice. Have given less notice.

Ghop · 08/01/2019 12:24

Okay, so it's not as late as I anticipated. Will get them out today.

we've had a week by txt which I considered too short. I aim for 4 weeks but usually it's closer to 3.

Going out today will hopefully be ok for most but expect some people to already be busy. We usually have plans 3-4 weeks in advance and if we haven't planned something it might be because we want a quiet day.
