Does this need a visit to GP

I'm pretty sure I've begun perimenopause due to periods going haywire with timing/duration/flooding etc.

I've begun to suffer REALLY sore joints recently as well.

I'm almost 45, so not thinking this is early/young, but wondering if you're meant to visit your GP when you think you've begun, or if attending the well woman clinic (nurse that handles BC and smears etc) is advisable. Reading various sites seems to have confused me a bit.

I'm not one to go to the Dr unnecessarily (haven't been for 4 yrs, which was for bronchitis, before that was normal checkups while pregnant 10+ yes ago).

Any advice?
