Cheapest way to go to Canada for summer holiday?

We’re tied to school holidays (4dc) and it looks extortionate! Any tips for cheaper accommodation and flights/ dates (beyond sky scanner) or do we write off the idea?

If you can fly out via Ireland (not sure that's practical with four children), you can save quite a lot on air passenger duty. Cheap one way flights to Dublin, for example, then Dublin to Canada and Canada home. Try Expedia for options. We've gone via Ireland twice, once to the US and once to Canada and it saved us several hundred pounds.
