Can you name this book??

Trying to remember the name of a kid's book from 1970s we used to have.... Have Googled but come up with nothing... So a little boy decides to build a house and his family don't listen, he goes out into the forest near his home and starts building it his self, loads of pictures of him constructing it, walks, fireplace, roof. He goes home each day and tells his family and noone believes him, I think he makes his lunch and brings it with him...then at the end he finishes this huge house and his family are like 'wow that's impressive, let's live in it!!!' The End

That sounds a really good call, TheTrout, you may well be right. I hadn't realised there was a book too, but do recall seeing the film of it donkey's years ago. Having Googled both, the book sounds more complex and detailed than the film.
