Potty training help

My ds is 3 in a couple of weeks and has shown signs of being ready for potty training for a while now. We are on day 3 and so far had nothing in the potty although the accidents are less frequent and he has said when he needs to go but doesn't get to the potty quick enough. Is this normal and should we persevere?! He's at nursery tomorrow and feel as he's not once done anything on the potty they'd maybe rather he was in pull ups but don't want to give up if he may start to get it in a few more days!

keep going, if he is saying when he needs to go then that is a good sign! maybe you could get a few pairs of these for him to go to nursery in, as they look like 'big boy' pants but are still absorbent. i would also let the nursery know you are potty training him, so that they can take him to the toilet when he asks. all the best x

Thank you for the reply. We shall keep on at it, it's just hard to know if we're doing the best thing for him. He's not told me he needs to go at all today! I think I maybe expected more a lot quicker!

I'm the same, we're on our second bout now as last time I gave up. He's 3y3m. He just doesn't wee! No accidents today, but literally no wee since 12.30. Last time he did this and it's why I stopped, I was worried he'd get cystitis.

He starts nursery tomorrow, and I'm going to have to send him in pull-ups aren't I???

It's so frustrating isn't it, I say him on the potty a short while ago and a minute after getting off and saying he didn't need to wee he wee'd on the floor! Maybe speak to nursery, ours are willing to have him in pants even though he's had loads of accidents and help us with it Smile

Weirdly he hasn't had any accidents since day 2 (day 4 today) because yesterday I made him sit on the potty several times when I knew he was needing to go, today I just left him to it to see what was happening and he hasn't weed at all since 12.30. He's drunk loads as well, and he's in a bad mood because he clearly needs a wee. It's like he can't switch it on! I've sat him on the potty but he just can't seem to do it! So frustrating!

I'm reluctant to send him in pants tomorrow because either he'll hold it in again. Or he'll have loads of accidents. I don't feel he's in the slightest bit potty trained and as it's his very first day ever at nursery I don't want him to link the two. I think we'll send him in pull-ups and just change him into pants in the afternoon when he gets home.
