Very anxious about skin rash

I will put the disclaimer that I have severe anxiety, especially health anxiety, so realise this may be clouding my thinking.

I get this sweat rash under my left boob, it flares up every so often and I've seen GP about it, she wasnt worried and prescribed a cream. All ok and I've kept it under control, however since I bought a new bra its been rubbing the area and made it worse again and it's very bad today.

It's really red and sore and well very painful basically.
I'm now worried it's cellulitis, I checked the symptoms online and they are similar. It's all localised though, no temperature or chills or any other symptoms, I feel perfectly well in myself. Except for bloody anxiety, I'm shaking and feel so on edge as I'm scared.

I plan to go to the dr first thing tomorrow if I can get an appointment - hopefully I will if I explain. Has anyone experienced this or got any advice?!
Thanks so much for reading.

I'm afraid I have no experience, but didn't want to read and run. As an outsider it would seem it's just your new bra. Try to think rationally (I know it's hard with anxiety): the gp isn't worried, and there is an obvious reason. If it had suddenly got worse by itself, then your worry would make more sense. But new bra, then rash appears. It all adds up. Try not wearing the bra for a bit and see if it clears up.

Does the gp already know about your anxiety?
Do you have a good book you can read to help calm you down?

Hunny cellulitis is teeeeeerrible, way way more than sweat rash, you'd feel ill in your whole body as its a infection that is deep in your skin (cellular levels), you'd have had to have an open wound to get it, this is 100% not that, do not worry. Aaaaaand, if it were cellulitus, you'll still be fine as its more than treatable.
Go to the doctors, get them to take a look, but with anxiety you have to keep bringing yourself back to the rational and keep saying the what then comment, play the scenario out, it all comes food in the end.
You will be fine, dont think anything more on it x

P.S, I've had shingles, cellulitus and pancreatitus to name but a few, I still live to tell many a tale and I'm in my early 30's Smile

Also I've just googled cellulitis. Even if it is that, it seems the gp would give you antibiotics and it should clear up in 7-10 days. So don't panic! Flowers

Hi Op,didn't want to leave you without a reply .
It's reassuring that you've already had a Gp checkup & don't have a temperature etc.
It's hard to tell especially without seeing the rash but it could be one of a number of things ,maybe an allergy to bra fabric or wire or even irritation from sweating or washing powder.

You could mark around the red area to see if it's spreading until you go back to the Gp & I would not wear the new bra for a while to see if it's related.
If it's constantly irritating, put something cool on it ,that usually soothes.

Hope it eases soon .

Is it intertrigo?
I got this badly recently. I was embarrassed and tried to treat it at home. It got really awful but then I put
Sudocreme on it and it was amazing. Improved about 50% overnight and totally healed in a couple of days.

Thank you all SO much, you've helped me calm down a huge amount!
I hate feeling and acting like this, it's so irrational and must be annoying to others. My partner doesn't care so that didn't help, he didnt even look over towards me when I told him about it. That's another thread..

I appreciate every reply so much. It's helped and I do feel calmer and more logical, this bra has been a nightmare to wear but I hardlt have any. It's embarrassing but I've put on about a stone recently and my boobs have got way bigger which I hate, and none of my old bras fit :( I really hate how vile I am at the moment.

I'll have a look at inertrigo thank you! So glad for you that yours cleared up fast.

jackio so sorry! Thank you for your replies, yes the dr said it was a fungal rash and prescribed a stronger cream than last time, with steroids in this time. It's still there but clearing up well :)
