There is a difference. I think British (English) people often confuse 'educated' (ie private school) with actually intelligent.. And that's why you have people claiming Boris is clever.

ArcheryAnnie "Competence can be amazingly sexy" is completed right!! I fancy the socks off a musician, as he plays his instruments beautifully.

My DH is also incredibly competent (and intelligent) in many areas, which I find very sexy.

On TV, Andrew Graham Dixon and the other one... James Fox? I love those BBC4 arts programmes. It especially helps if the person speaks multiple languages.

As for a character, agree with those who said Jack from Silent Witness. The penetrating stare and the accent are to blame!

Thethingswedoforlove, I'm glad you said Jon Richardson. I'd been watching 8 Out Of 10 Cats and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown for ages and just thought he was very witty with a sharp brain. One day on the Countdown one he was getting long words and getting the maths answers without having to write anything down. And I thought, "God, that guy's got a really good brain". I looked at him in a whole different light, which now involves a crush (even though I'm old enough to be his mother)

Oh yes, James Fox was the other name I couldn't remember. Though I'd still swap him out for Michael Scott.
