Advice on cleaning white trainers!

DS white trainers have mud on them. If they were old or cheap I would put them in the washer. Any advice on cleaning the mud off???

Leather or canvas?
Let the mud dry and brush it off .dont get mud wet it’ll just spread it about
Damp j cloth with a gentle detergent eg hand wash or baby shampoo to remove stains
Wash the laces in washing machine
White leather cream restorer if required (clarks,supermarket)
Put shoe trees in to retain shape
