Afternoon Tea/Cocktails - Wimbledon area

Posting for ideas:

I need to find somewhere lovely for a smallish celebration after a funeral in Wimbledon, Wimbledon Village or near Lambeth area for between 15-20 ish adults .

I need somewhere that could serve champagne & lovely drinks & either afternoon tea or canaps/sandwiches. The deceased was a very lovely person & would like something befitting her. For this reason Cannizaro House in the Village is out as service awful, dirty etc.

Any ideas people - its fpr midweek & im not too concerned about costs.

Hotel Du Vin in Wimbledon did a lovely Brunch for a baby shower I attended last year.

Thank you Helena, I guess we were unlucky last year (went twice , both awful) & its making me not want to chance them for such an important event to get right

It sounds quite a tall order if Cannizaro House/Hotel Du Vin is not to your liking, Did your friend belong to one of the golf clubs in Wimbledon (or you, or one of the other attendees)? if so, maybe see if they can do something. There are some nice pubs in Wimbledon Village, but maybe they wouldn't suit either.

Whereabouts in 'Lambeth area'?

Light cafe in the village do a lovely afternoon tea. Ask if you can reserve the space at the back under thr glass ceiling. It’s not posh like cannizaro used to be but is very Wimbledon village and the food and service is lovely.

I agree with you about Cannizzaro by the way - gone very downhill

Also there’s the ivy in the village now too? Haven’t been but that could be worth a try?
