Or is it the devil? I hear conflicting opinions on this. I don’t use it but should I be using it to help keep my mouth clean?

I'm a dentist. There are a few exceptions but in most cases it's useless

Busytizzy · 06/01/2019 10:47

My dentist said you shouldn't use it after brushing, as it washes all the fluoride from the toothpaste away. He said if you want to use mouthwash, do it at a different time, like after eating.

Interesting.... thanks for the replies. So, as a dentist NoArmani, when would you use it?

My tooth broke yesterday but luckily I already have a dental appointment booked for Tuesday. Will mouthwash be useful in the interim or will I be causing more damage? Sorry to drip feed Blush

Mouthwash won't do anything for a broken tooth.
As for when to use it. Some like listerine I would never use or recommend.
Corsodyl I would suggest during chemo.
Fluoriguard I would suggest at a different time to brushing for people who need another dose of fluoride, such as teens with braces or people with a high sugar diet.

Thank you, very interesting.
