Best cheap central London hotel?

Any suggestions please. We are wanting to go and do the London thing in February half term.

3 nights. Need a room for 2 adults and 1 child.

We are tonight on our way back from doing the "London thing" with a 2 year old and a 4 year old. Stayed at a Holiday Inn express in Finchley. Highly recommend, lovely staff, fab room. Good breakfast. Cheap parking and just 20 minutes into the city on the train. Perfect!

I'm pretty used to London as I lived and worked in east London for a few years, but does it feel like a safe area?

We are heading to London next week, we are staying in a travel lodge. I think it was less than £180 for 2 adults, wifi and breakfast for 2 nights. I personally don't see the point in spending loads of money on a hotel if your going to be out and exploring all the time antway imo but each to their own

I usually use the easy hotels - cheap as chips and in good locations!

The Hoxton Hotel Shoreditch might be worth a look

I agree Kylie, as long as it is clean and safe, i'm not after any luxuries, I would rather spend the money elsewhere in London.

we are going to london in july and i looked on booking.com picked the area i wanted near hyde park and sifted through the choices, the on we have got is three nights with breakfast for £284 for tow people, ok its basic in cambden but we only need a bed to sleep in and breakfast before we go out

Premier inn Earls Court/Kensington.
Tucked away the other side of Earls Court, lots of little shops and supermarket.
Easy access to Tube. Really quiet. Been there a few times, super helpful.

I just look on booking.com and see what comes up with a good deal for the area and date I'm looking for. You can filter the search to find family rooms and so on. The reviews are recent and I have found give a reasonably accurate picture of what hotels are actually like.

It's also worth checking the website for Premier Inn directly, as they have lots of branches in and around London but don't come up on booking sites, and they are good for family rooms.

Half term and fairly short notice means you are unlikely to get any amazing deals, unfortunately.

Mr Tumbles, I have been quoted £1700 for that one, I think that's out of my budget. Was looking at under £500 for 4 nights including breakfast.

One tip: there are loads of basic but decent little hotels around the Earls Court Area, which is handy for transport and walking distance to lots of the museums (Natural History, V&A etc) if that's the kind of thing you are doing.

Premier inns and travelodges are a good bet though can be expensive in London. Just do a Booking.com search - I've stayed in the holiday inn Oxford street cheaply in the winter for instance. There's lots of small hotels around Russell Square which are basic and dates but central as an alternative (we had a triple room for £130/night)

Premier Inn at Blackfriars. Near St Paul's. Love it for our base . Really nice modest hotel. Lovely staff.

I've used the Premier Inn Clapham, Wandsworth Road numerous times over the last 18 months. Highly recommend it. Had no problems at all, safe area. Lovely staff. A really nice place. Happy for you to PM me.

You could get an apartment for a few days for that budget, e.g. something like this.

£150 would be a minimum budget I expect in school holidays I expect - I paid £130 on a random November midweek! Alternatively look at somewhere on thameslink or tube but budget for travel as it's not cheap before you commit

Stayed in the premier inn at Westfield Stratford so close to everything and it was very cheap

Have a look at the Travelodges in Greenwich - there's one in Greenwich and one in Deptford (about a ten minute walk from the other one). Obviouly basic, but you can often get good deals and Greenwich is lovely.

DH and i got an easy hotel room for £100 for 4 nights in September in Earl’s Court, very basic but absolutely fine and clean

We always stay at either the Premier Inn Earls Court South Kensington or the Southwark Travelodge. The Premier is brilliant and very easy access to the tube. The Travelodge is better if you have two kids as the 3rd bed is better but the downside is you are not on a convenient tube line and Waterloo is a pain to travel from but it’s a lovely walk to the Southbank area and you can walk across the bridge to Charing Cross.

I live just down the road. It's got very stabby round there. In fact DH and I were driving into work a few month ago and there was a stab victim in that very hotel

We just stayed in the Travelodge at Tower Bridge for 3 nights and it was £260 ish per room including breakfast. One of those nights was NYE. Excellent location and about two min walk to tower hill tube station.

We last stayed at a Premier Inn near Tower. Bridge , B & B only , and went to Wetherspoons for. Breakfast 😀
