I am spending this weekend in Manhattan with DH (first child-free break in 8 years!!)

I've been twice before, as a backpacker and on a 'romantic break', so feel I've done all the touristy spots and I'm not interested in spending the whole weekend shopping.

I'm looking for your best recommendations for cosy breakfast spots, people watching lunch places and cocktail bars and restaurants.
Anything off the beaten tourist track: places the locals go to hang out, etc.

I've been so focussed on getting through Christmas that I've not had a chance to research at all! Hoping you guys will come up with some gems.
Thanks so much!

I was there for new year - had great dim sum at Golden Unicorn in Chinatown, steak at Quality Meat which was recommended by a New Yorker, brunch at a cute French place called Pardon My French (lovely food and bottomless mimosas/bloody Mary, but cash only which we didn’t realise!) and I’ve been to another French place for lunch/drinks a few times called Rue 57. Have an amazing time!Smile

Forgot to say, Rue 57 does great sushi and cocktails as well as brunch/lunch food!

They all sound great! Love Sushi! Will add to my list. Thank you.

Ooh lucky you, I've never been but would love to go. Probably a bit sad to admit but the first place on my list would be The Laughing Man coffee shop just incase the owner (Hugh Jackman) happens to be there Grin

Go to Brooklyn! Spend time brunching in Williamsburg, Park Slope or Bushwick, check out the vintage shopping and great bars and go to Prospect Park for a walk and get an ice cream from the amazing Ample Hills after Grin

Do a food tour! Did one in Rome and it took us to all sorts of places we’d never have found on our own.

Try Ayza for a chocolate martini. The food was also good.

You had me at Hugh Jackman!! Grin
