Changing my name

Hi so my son father and I are not together and my son has his dad's last name. I hate not having the same last name as my son. I hate the look you get from people when they hear that your last name is different from your child's. What people thought on me changing my last name to match my son?

I honestly think that very few people care that you have a different surname, OP. I also think that it would be odd to take on your ex's surname - that's more likely to get "looks" than not changing it!

When i was at school in the 1980s when our school reports were due we would be given the envelope to correctly address our parent(s) as even then it was expected that some of us would have different last names from our parents. All these years later there is very little expectation that a child will have the same last name as a parent.
