Should I just not bother trying?

I want to save for a house. I'm 24 and have 2 kids. Did things all wrong. Moved out at 17 and been renting since. I could just about afford to save 50 quid a month. Should I just not bother. It will take me at least 8 years to get close to a deposit

Of course you should! You may be able to add more as time goes in and in 8 years you will still enough to get a mortgage!!!

I just feel like I would give up because I have no patience and I know it would take forever

Well in a years time you will be 300 pounds closer. If you dont save youll be where you are now.

Save anyway. Because you could be saving for a house, or a holiday, or an emergency. That's the thing with savings, they are there anyway.

No one knows what's going to happen with house prices post-whatever the hell is happening with Brexit. Your money could go further.

That’s £4800 in 8 years- is that really enough? Around here you’d need at least £30k.
