Does anyone know how long passport renewals are taking at the moment?

Adult passport renewal, British citizen, nothing that should complicate it..

They say to allow approx. 3 weeks but we have renewed at various times of the year and the longest we have ever waited is 10 days. We always pay extra and use the passport checking service at the Post Office. We live in NI, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

About a week based on my experience this week. Applied online and uploaded new photo on 30 Dec, posted back passport on 2 Jan, and had a text today to say new one should be with me in next 2 days. A really efficient process. Congrats government!

I've always found them to be very quick, mine expires next month but planning to renew next week to avoid any brexit related delays

Sorry to jump on your thread @explodedpeach but does anyone know whether it's likely to take longer than the advised 3 weeks if there's a name change? We got married in July and I'm just getting around to renewing my passport. I've sent my old passport and our marriage certificate so they should have everything they need, just wondering if it adds much extra time to the process.

My son’s was sent special delivery on Monday to the passport office for renewal (they signed for it on Tuesday). I have received it today!

I just renewed mine with a name change and it took 5 days.
Dds took a week.

Took less than a week late last year

A brand new passport for baby took around a week at the end of last year.

I applied for a straightforward renewal online on the 2nd January. Sent back my old passport on the 3rd. Got the new one through yesterday - 9th.

Just done mine now and it took 5 working days. Very efficient service. Would recommend online

Worth doing it at this time of year when it's quick. It takes a lot longer if you apply in the middle of summer.

Brand new one was had in about a week just before Christmas

Daughters came in about 7 days including NYD!
