Wonderful NHS

Daft trivial thread really considering, but I have a terrible ear infection.

This morning I called for an appointment and of course they were fully booked, but the receptionist took my details and said the dr would call me when surgery was over, or they would call if there was a cancellation.

I have truly been in the worst pain in my life since yesterday, no food or sleep in 36 hours, and was in hysterical tears this morning, crying and holding my face. I don't know if anyone else has suffered from inner ear infections but the pressure feels like being underwater and being stabbed in the brain repeatedly. I'm 34 and have never been in so much pain.

I was a complete mess and stumbled the 2 mins to the doctors in tears asking if I could just wait in reception as I was in so much pain and was hoping if there was a no show I might be able to slot in.

The receptionist put me in a side room, bought me some water, gave me a hug and said she would let the dr know I was there. Bear in mind I was in floods of tears batting and my ear and had no appointment.

Within about 20 mins the dr came and fetched me from the side room, was lovely, prescribes penicillin and codeine, and sent me on my way.

Fantastic service. I was in a horrible state, messy and crying, with no appointment, yet she still saw me. I am in awe of the receptionists, nurses and doctors that work for our NHS.
