Anyone seen it?

Thoughts?

I'm just... speechless really. There are no words...

No but I want to. Where did you watch it?

NeonK · 04/01/2019 12:32

I saw it a few weeks ago at a local independent cinema. Incredible story, well told.
I thought one of them looked really haunted throughout.

BigBot9 · 04/01/2019 12:35

@ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName I saw it at a local picturehouse cinema. It's brilliant, but very dark. Fabulously told story.

@NeonK I thought they both seemed hugely troubled by the whole experience. Their families too. Completely surreal - it makes me feel odd thinking about it.

I went to the cinema not knowing what it was about so the second half was a massive surprise.

No I've not. It seems very interesting
What's it about.
Actual triplets adopted at birth or 3 people who coincidentally look the exacte same.
They do say There are only so many gene combinations to go round so there will be at least 80 people ehi look exactly like you.
OMG imagine 80 of me, poor thingsGrin

AintNobodyHereButUsReindeer · 04/01/2019 12:36

Sounds interesting. What is it about?

BigBot9 · 04/01/2019 12:38

@Awwlookatmybabyspider it's about triplets adopted at birth. I don't want to give too much away about the reason for their adoption but it's worth watching and quite the shock. I suggest just going to see it without googling it though. Much better when you don't know the 'twist'

@AintNobodyHereButUsReindeer x post... see my previous post. It's worth a watch.

Absolutely blew my mind. Incredible film.

I thought it was very well shot too. The way the first half was very happy, upbeat, exciting and joyful, then it very, very quickly turns incredibly dark and disturbing.

Horrendously immoral what those poor families went through. Such a heartbreaking situation. Then film stayed with me for a long time after I watched it.

www.theguardian.com/film/2018/jun/28/three-identical-strangers-the-bizarre-tale-of-triplets-separated-at-birth Spoilers though, obvs.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 04/01/2019 13:06

I really want to see it but no where near me is showing it

EnidButton · 04/01/2019 13:08

Argh! I was too intrigued to resist googling. Holy shit. Shock

Never heard of them before. Absolutely fascinating so I'll try to see this even now I know.

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/01/2019 13:08

I think the phrase one of the triplets used, "Nazi Shit" seemed to describe it to a T

EnidButton · 04/01/2019 13:10

Just read something else. I imagine impossible to discuss any of it without risking spoilers. Hope lots of people get to see their story.

ChatNicknameAlreadyInUse · 04/01/2019 13:24

I'd never heard of it until this thread but now I really want to see it! Have pre ordered the DVD on Amazon as it's not being shown near me.

BigBot9 · 04/01/2019 13:28

@ChatNicknameAlreadyInUse it's absolutely brilliant and I may also order it so I can force it upon every house guest I ever have!

MyAuntyBadger · 04/01/2019 13:37

I really want to see this but it's not being shown at our local cinema yet. Thanks for reminding me op, really looking forward to seeing it now.

Pobblit · 04/01/2019 13:43

Agree it's hard to discuss hardly any of the plot without dropping significant spoilers! Smile

It's a real shame the film isn't more publicly available for viewing. It should be in all the mainstream cinemas.

This is a true story and these families need their voices to be heard with regards to what happened to them and what they were subjected to.

JintyandtheJs · 04/01/2019 16:19

Yes. Amazed I hadn’t heard this story. As I realised what happened I yelled out!
(Ripped it off pirate bay)
Recommend ++

GnothiSeafton · 04/01/2019 16:32

Wasn't there a TV documentary made about this a while back? I do recall some newspaper articles about them and then a subsequent documentary which I've watched on TV?

As an adoptee, I found the whole thing utterly shocking.

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/01/2019 18:48

I think it brings up a lot of what we know about the 60s.

How children were 2nd class citizens and how unwanted children were 3rd class citizens with absolutely no rights or framework for behaviour towards them considered.

They were there as fodder for an experiment that has no conclusion.

I know it was a throwaway comment but I did wonder about the true background of the Dr involved.

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/01/2019 18:49

I actually saw it on a BA flight.

Is it not on All4? It was shown on C4 last year. Really shocking and thought-provoking.
