What do you do when your clearer is in the house??

Usually I'm working but am home today and feeling awkward and trying to hide out of their way.

Do you do bits and bobs round them - eg laundry? Do you move rooms as they come into them?? Or do you just go about your business as normal??

I literally just sat on the sofa with the TV on - bit I had explained that I was very poorly and that was the whole reason I was hiring them! It was still a bit awkward though

My cleaner is a close friend and comes at the weekend.

DC stay upstairs in their rooms whilst she does downstairs, I stay in my study. When she goes upstairs they come into my study. She does the study last and we go into the playroom.

Then have a cuppa and biscuits and a gossip Grin

I normally put some washing on (usually sheets and towels so they are done on the same day) but otherwise try to keep out of the way. Once they have done upstairs I normally go out with DS to avoid undoing their work and keep toys out of their way.

I sit in my study and then go out before she's finished so she can clean it. Normally I have a music lesson but as it's the holidays I don't so will run some errands.

If I'm WFH I stay in my study (spare bedroom) with the door shut. I shout a quick hello when she arrives and tell her to knock when she needs to hoover in there. I don't want to start chatting as I need to work.

Pretty sure she prefers me out the way as she has a set routine and goes round really fast.

We hide Grin But there's 3-4 that come at once and are out in 45 minutes, so it's not long and usually timed for when I'm out.

Go out!

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/01/2019 10:12

Gossip with her, I love her!

Whatshouldonedo · 04/01/2019 10:16

I either potter around her doing washing or whatever, or if the children are there keep them occupied so we're out of her way

She's a really lovely lady so we tend to have a bit of a chat if I'm ever at home and I make us a coffee

Go out! I work from home but always feel awkward when they're here so I go and work from a coffee shop for the hour or so that they're here.
