Would you recommend Salou?

Just as the title suggests, would you recommend Salou for a summer holiday? We will have DC 7 & 6 with us.
Any hotel recommendations? And is there plenty to do when you are there?
Never been before but I’ve found a deal online, just over 2k for the 4 of us for 2 weeks self catering which is decent, but would love some personal stories/recommendations before I go ahead and book.
Thanks in advance Smile

We stayed in Hotel Augustus, October half term 2017. LOVED it! Staff were lovely, food was varied and plentiful. (We got a full board deal) Port aventura was fab, and as we were out of season we barely queued, no more than 20 mins for any ride! Highly recommend it.

Been twice and our circumstances both times meant it wasn't very enjoyable BUT we are considering it for this year as DD(4) would love the theme park. The theme park is pretty amazing for children.

We stayed in Cap Salou first time, boring with nothing around the area but nice if you like being away from everything.

Then stayed in Cambrils the second time which is lovely and some hotels are right on the beach.

Couldn’t wait to get away from Salou it’s jam packed day & night with noisy drunken English yobs. The resort next to Salou is Cambrills which is so much nicer. If you’re self catering you’ll be spending lots of Euros on food, the supermarkets are expensive.
