If you've relocated in the UK what did you do first? New have a house we would need to sell, get news jobs and move dc to new schools.... not sure of location as yet but starting to look into. If you relocated, what did you do first and how did you do it?

Job first. Then house (renting at first). Didn't have kids do no school/ childcare to sort.

Job means you know where you need to be and how much you have to play with.

We found the place to live first, I gave up work and moved down to start sorting the house out in advance of DH coming down. He stayed in the old area and only handed in his notice once we had exchanged contracts on the sale of late DM’s house and his last date at work was also the day we completed the sale. Now we’re settling in to the new area and taking the opportunity to go on a couple of holidays before settling down fully and looking for work (DH not me at the moment at least)

You won’t get a state school place (probably) until you’ve got a permanent address. So I agree that you rent at first as that allows you to get the school place and move more quickly than buying. As to job first or once you’re renting...depends what you do...can you temp until you get a permanent job?
