What’s your favourite album?

I’ve set myself a fun New Years resolution to listen to a lot more albums. What is your favourite album?

My taste is pretty eclectic. Some of my favourite bands and artists are Queen, Greenday, Swmrs, Ed Sheeran, PINK, the who, linkin park. I also like a lot of folky and Irish traditional stuff as well like the Clancy brothers and the Dubliners.

Anyway fire away with some suggestions Smile

Queen - Jazz
Queen - Innuendo
George Ezra - Wanted on Voyage
George Ezra - Staying at Tamara's
Green Day - American Idiot
The Offspring - Americana

Air guitar Anthems is an awesome collective too.

YerAunt love innuendo and American Idiot is one of my all time favourite albums! I haven’t listened to a George Ezra album but love his singles. May have to have a listen!

The Bronx self titled first album.
Rancid - And Out Come The Wolves. Not listened to much Rancid since my teens but the Peter Rabbit movie played 'Time Bomb' when the animals are messing up the house and it just took me back Smile was sort of a weird Mum at cinema remembers 16 year old self like it was two days ago moment.

BeachtheButler · 03/01/2019 00:19

Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan.

2019hereicome · 03/01/2019 00:20

11yrgap I haven’t listened to either of those although have listened to some rancid! I will have a look. Funny how music can pull us right back to a moment or period of time 😊 I loved the peter rabbit movie lol.

Oh and if you like folky, Disneys Brave also led me to listen to a lot of Julie Fowlis' stuff after liking what she did on the Brave soundtrack. Another animated film inspired revelation for me.

2019hereicome · 03/01/2019 00:21

Beachthebutler haven’t heard of that one. I will pop it on my list.

Biffy clyro's Puzzle, mainly because it has the wonderful Folding Stars on it

And Imagine Dragons, Night Vision. I never cared for them until I went to see them last year. A. Maz. Ing

MrsDaveGrohl78 · 03/01/2019 00:44

I have 3...

AC/DC - Powerage
Rancid - And Out Come The Wolves
Pennywise - Full Circle

:)

acatcalledjohn · 03/01/2019 00:55

For folk I'd highly recommend Agnes Obel. Scandinavian moody folk. Any of her albums really.

Old school: Blue by Joni Mitchell. It's a classic.

Kate Bush's Lionheart is fab too.

EugenesAxe · 03/01/2019 00:55

My most favourite album is by Pink Floyd - obviously to people who know them, given my username - and it is "The Wall".

Other entire albums I really like are:

Muse - Origin of Symmetry
Beatles - Abbey Road, Rubber Soul
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles..
Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise
Pink Floyd - Saucerful of Secrets, Dark Side.., Wish You Were Here
Love - Forever Changes

Meaty, Beaty Big and Bouncy too - but you probably have that if you are a Who fan.

MoonMaybe · 03/01/2019 01:17

I've always found it tricky to decide on a favourite album-there's so many great contenders out there, but nevertheless; here's a few recommendations:

Radio Free America - RSO

Say You Will - Fleetwood Mac

High Hopes - Bruce Springsteen

Raintown - Deacon Blue

High On The Happy Side - Wet Wet Wet

Enjoy! Smile

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morrissette is brilliant. Not a duff song on there.

ShutUpMorrissey · 03/01/2019 09:20

@ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName I love your name!

My faves:

The Smiths - The Smiths
Hunky Dory - David Bowie
Dog Man Star - Suede
For Your Pleasure - Roxy Music
Six - Mansun
Different Class - Pulp

As you can see I'm not much of a one for modern music! That said Call the Comet by Johnny Marr and The Blue Hour by Suede both came out last year and both are completely brilliant. In fact you can probably bang both on my top albums list.
