Does anyone else remember numbers like this?

Sometimes I can't remember a number but I can pick up the phone and dial it even though I couldn't tell you what it is. Does anyone else do that? What are your weird quirks?

Yes. I assume it’s bexause I remember the pattern the numbers are typed in rather than the numbers themselves.

I can also do that with numbers - but problems arise when a keyboard numbers 7, 8,9 along the top whereas a phone you have 1,2, 3 at the top

I can also remember an exact shade of colour - so buy cotton to sew some fabric I have at home, or pick a scarf/handbag to match an outfit/ shoes that are at home.

I still remember my dgm's land-line number from 40 years ago - I can picture dialing the numbers and the sound the phone made as the dial spun back!!

Muscle memory. Thank god my fingers know my PIN.

Have you ever thought about walking down the stairs while walking down stairs? It’s really hard to do consciously!

Yes similar, I can reel my mobile number off quickly but if I think about it too much then it's not there.

I can't remember numbers at all. Is it a thing? I am AMAZING with names but I can't hold a number in my head for love nor money. I like the idea of doing it by shape though, might try that!

This so why dyslexics are taught to type so their fingers learn the words

OneStepMoreFun · 02/01/2019 16:04

Not quite. But I can never put into words where DC's misplaced bag or phone is in the house, even though I can go straight to the place and get it.
And I never know friends' addresses just what houses look like from the outside. I have no idea what number a close friend lives at although she's round th ecorner, I've known her twelve years and visited hundreds of times.

I have that with some online logins and passwords. I panic that I've forgottten them and then when I go to enter them, my fingers just take over.
