Best ways to deal with gastric viruses?

At least I assume that’s what it is.

DS(7) was mildly feverish, achy and gurgly tummy with loose poo, no appetite but no vomiting for the 3 days running up to Xmas. Then was fine.

Boxing Day I started with similar - aching (eyes hurt) lethargic, stomach sounded like a drain but no d&v at all. Just bloated and gurgly. It went and came back for a couple of days repeatedly till yesterday when it’s come back with a vengeance. Last night I was hot/cold and shivery all night and I feel like being touched would hurt (IYKWIM). Low down low level stomach ache in waves, but only 2/10 bad. No d&v again but no appetite either and feeling like generally I’ve been run over.

How do I get rid of this thing and what is it? I feel like a massive bout of diarrhoea would help in a weird way but just this low level awful gurgling and bloating. What is it?? Is there a gastric virus type thing going round?

Ideas as to what might work? Starve it out? Massive dose of Andrews salts to blast it out? Stuck in bed at the mo and mighty pissed off this is supposed to be a days leave.

I appear to be going through it as well.
I had diahorrea last night after feeling dreadful all day. Hadn’t had much sleep nye and never drank
I haven’t eaten for 36 hours
I plan to finish it off good and proper
I’m going to take a big dose of Epsom salts this afternoon..this will guarantee another good clean out
Then tomboy I will reseed with good probiotics

I might have some apples and green juice today..might as well help my liver along as well

Disclaimer...we all know homeopathy doesn’t work
So I took some nux vom and that settled me down and helped me to sleep well too.
I feel refreshed and rested and ready for stage two.

Thank you. I’ve been sipping water all morning and have had to take some paracetamol to enable me to get up and get the kids breakfast. Luckily my Mum is home and is going to come and take them later.

I’ve got acidophilus so I’ll start that but want to get whatever this is gone first. I feel like I kind of get on the winning side then the virus fights back. I just wish it would do one thing or another - a huge bout of d&v - and get it done. This is like a low level rumbling with these viral side effects - my eyes feel like they are on stalks.

DH says I should go to the GP but I feel that’s a waste and can’t see what they can do?
