I recently had a panic that the mirena coil I’d had inserted at the end of October, had failed. Basically I had the IUS inserted, stopped Microgynon 7 days later, had a withdrawal bleed, but then didn’t bleed again for another 40 days! (My cycle when I wasn’t on the pill was about 30 days usually.) I was freaking out a lot in those last 10 days and took 3 pregnancy tests (all negative!) I had such aching boobs that I just couldn’t tell!
Anyway, I eventually started my period (which started out as brown discharge) but it has been extremely light but consistent for about 10ish days.
Sorry about the TMI but I tried to find any sort of information online about what to expect when starting the mirena, however I really had trouble finding much relating to anybody’s first experiences with it. I’m hoping by my posting here I might be able to reassure someone who might be having the same experience as me (especially if they are moving from the combined pill!)
If you have had a similar experience, please let me know! I think it’s valuable for those who have no idea what to expect.
