Anyone lost 5+ stone without SW or WW

Just that really! I need to loose 5st minimum, possibly up to 7st and 2019 is the year I’m finally going to do it Grin
I can’t decide whether to join a Slimming World Group next week. I’ve had good results from Slimming World in the past but they’ve made lots of changes and I’ve read a few articles recently which has made me doubt a few things. However, at the same time I’m not sure I can do it on my own.
Has anyone lost 5+ stone without SW or WW? How did you do it?

Me too I have about 5st to lose, how the f**k are we going to do it....

Can totally recommend Team RH (find it on Facebook). It's no nonsense calorie counting, totally works and is really manageable in fitting in with everyday life!

I've lost 3 stone with it and it is honestly so easy Smile

I went from 17st 8.5 to 9st 8 in 2018, just by sensible healthy eating, no commercial diet.

I’ve found a friend to join SW with. About 4 stone to lose here.

MissMalice · 01/01/2019 21:17

Diets have a long term success rate of approx 5%.

QueenofLouisiana · 01/01/2019 21:18

@FATEdestiny Wow! That is seriously impressive!

Theromanempire · 01/01/2019 21:19

Oh yeah and Team RH is much cheaper than SW & WW - £5 a month.

I lost 70kg (11 stone) without any slimming clubs. I counted calories using My Fitness Pal and tracked exercise and calorie burn using a heart rate monitor.

Crunchymum · 01/01/2019 21:28

I go to SW purely to be weighed. I find paying £5 per week and the public weigh-in, is incentive enough to keep me following my own healthy eating plan (I do low GI and log food with MFP)......

I think SW has an awful ethos. Don't tell my SW leader that though Grin

mommathatwearspink · 01/01/2019 21:52

Oh wow, some amazing results without Slimming groups! Maybe tracking calories on MFP is the way to go.

Another vote for team RH here. It's no nonsense common sense and all the support you could ever need

feelingverylazytoday · 01/01/2019 21:59

I've lost 4 1/2 stones so far, and plan on losing at least one more. Haven't joined any slimming clubs or followed any specific diet, just done the eat less move more thing. I've got used to it now and can't imagine going back to my old ways (been doing it for over 2 years now).

Stormwhale · 01/01/2019 22:01

I lost 4.5 stones using myfitnesspal. I stuck to the calorie limit and walked more. That was it.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 01/01/2019 22:02

Good old fashioned calorie tracking here too although it was 3 stone. Didnoriginally lose it on SW then put a lot back on. Calorie counting has taught me a lot about food and am now able to maintain a stable weight of between 10st 5 and 10st 8 which is a rather comfortable size 10 with the odd 8 thrown in (I’m pretty tall).

There's been studies to suggest going to eg SW has no long term effects as the food is too restrictive long term. Someone said that they couldn't find anyone who had done SW type diets who kept weight off for more than 6 months. I can't diet - I hardly drink but put 2 stone on over a year on AD.s. came off them and put ANOTHER stone on. Cutting down food ( Xmas excluded ) and moving more ( walking and 2 X aqua fit ) for 3 months - haven't weighed myself yet but my bras are too big. My clothes are looser so I'm sticking with it!
