Tiredness makes me so grouchy

I am such a pain in the arse when I'm tired, I know I am. I can't seem to help it. I've never really been one for late nights. Stayed up for the first time in years last night to see in the new year and had a few drinks but it just makes me so irritable the next day. I've no patience with the kids and I just want to go to sleep.
Not sure why I'm posting really but can anyone relate?

Yes, absolutely Hmm
It was something of a revelation the day I decided to prioritise my sleep above everything else. I need a good eight hours to feel really refreshed, by when I manage that I'm on top of the world.
My New Years resolution is to go to bed and get up at the same time regularly. I'm quite excited to see how I fare!

I'm the same OP. My New Years resolution is to sort my sleep out as it is affecting my relationships and mental health. I don't seem to have any problem falling asleep, it's just staying asleep that is the issue!

I am going to: cut caffeine down massively, no devices after dinner (apparently tv is ok because you aren't too close to it), get a regular routine going and carry on using magnesium spray which helps enormously. Also, no water or drinks after 8.30 as one of my problems is getting up to go to the loo.

I also got the book Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker (?) - which will probably just depress me over my lack of sleep - but might be useful!

Yep I've always needed a lot of sleep.
I've got four dc and the youngest one has only just started to sleep through regularly (he's fourAngry) so obviously I've had to manage but I'm fortunate that I can nap anywhere and frequently do.
I'm now happiest going to sleep at 10.30 and getting up at 8.30. I can do this at the moment but when school starts I will be up at 7 which I will have to get used to againGrin
