Going down to hotel breakfast in PJs and socks

I was at a Holiday Inn recently and an entire family came down to breakfast in PJs and socks. Is this common? I've never seen it before.

Breakfast was in the restaurant so not close to any rooms or anything. I just though it was a bit weird and unhygenic. I might go down to breakfast without make up on or whatever but I'd always get dressed and put shoes on at the very least!

I went shopping last Saturday to Proper Job and when I went back to my car (this was mid morning) I saw a woman in her slippers and dressing gown (she was wearing either pyjama bottoms or tracksuit bottoms as well) walking towards the shop. It was definitely a dressing gown and not a coat she was wearing. That’s taking it one step too far I think Grin

Would assume people with zero standards if I saw this and who had been brought up with little or no morals or class. Wouldn't like to see their own homes either.

I have never seen this and would be very shocked if I did

I've never seen this either, and I've stayed in a lot of hotels, namely for work, where I went several years staying in hotels on average three times a week, usually four star.

I think most people know you shouldn't go to a public restaurant in your pyjamas, and a hotel restaurant is a public restaurant. It's just a bit skanky. Would it bother me, no not really, but I'd negatively judge anyone who did it. It takes all of a minute to shove a pair of jeans and a fleece on so you are dressed in public.

If there’s no legal agreement in place I can’t see how she’s expecting payment

I think the law states there has to be a legal agreement in some form - letter text etc

So you owned the house apart from £30K loan form aunty - to cover that she rented out rooms in your house and used the money to pay bills

So if she wants to recoup the bills money she needs to declare the rent - which is more than the bills -:so effectively may owe you

So she’s used your home as a cash cow and now wants more?

Did she pay tax on the money she earnts?

Sounds like great advice though @greentulips. I'm sure the op of that thread will be very grateful.
