they're demolishing the house next door - tips? what to expect?

Just that really. A medium sized derelict house next door is being demolished in early Jan. We're separated by a narrow alleyway - so we are very close!

Just wondered from others what to expect? How long it could take? (a couple of days / week / longer?)

Any tips on getting through...? How to deal with dust (might it be a nightmare on that front!?) etc....

I have one young child and am not looking forward to it! we don't really have the option to stay away for the duration.

Following demolition they will build a new one. Which will be a barrel of laughs too, obviously!!

If anyone has experience of living next to a demolition and the building of a new house next door I would welcome it! Thank you!

Rats as the drains collapse.

The worst thing about living next to a building plot is when they get to first fix stage and they have plumber and electrician and plasterer and and and all on site at once and there's nowhere to bloody park.

oh goodness, rats? Anything I can do about it??

Mice will come into your house as they get displaced on the building site. Keep your windows closed as there will be lots of noise and dust. Parking outside your house might be a problem.

We are a couple of weeks into a demolition/new build next door situation. Five months of chaos we've been told. Lots of mess and noise alongside parking issues. That said the developer is lovely and keeps us informed. The workmen have been really nice and friendly.
