Stop smoking services at pharmacies - any experience?

I want to quit smoking, for good this time. I’m the most addicted smoker I know (depressing backstory, won’t go into it!). I did manage to quit once for about 10 months, but my mum died and I went back to it. I was able to stop when pregnant but since my twins were born I’ve been worse than ever - we’ve had a very stressful time with health issues with both of them and it’s definitely my crutch. Obviously I don’t smoke around them or indoors.

I need to quit. Last time I use a vape but this time it’s just not doing anything to help. Nicotine replacement doesn’t seem to help me at all, not even a little bit of help.

I tried Champix once years ago but once the dose increased I couldn’t keep it down.

My GP suggested I try it again with anti sickness meds, but they can’t prescribe it and due to cuts there are zero NHS stop smoking services left here. The only option is pharmacies.

What’s the deal with them - if they offer a prescription can you get an NHS prescription? Or do you have to pay for a private one? I’ve seen you can do it online but it’s hundreds of pounds for the full course.

Any experience?
