Anyone got a Brita water filter?

Just bought one with much excitement! Put the cartridge in that came with it and even tho is brand new it only shows 75%? But the leaflet says it should show 4/4 bars with a new cartridge? Anyone had one?

The filter bar meter isn't connected to the filter in any way at all. One bar disappears every couple of weeks regardless so you can just ignore the meter and change the filter when the water starts to taste like tap water again.

That is so helpful thank you! Do you notice a difference with yours?

You are welcome. We live in a hard water area so there's a noticeable difference in the taste, and when the filter begins to run out.

Did you keep your finger on the button long enough? That's how mine works anyhow.

It's saved the life of both my kettle and steam generator iron, as I live in a very hard water area. My kettle is one of those glass ones with blue lights so it looks awful with calc build up. I haven't had to decalc it since I got the Brita!

Also I have used the water on my indoor plants as I've read Orchids prefer soft water. My orchids and poinsettia are absolutely flourishing this year. Smile

We have one. Hard water area. Definitely makes a big difference. Never need to descale the kettle now and tea in particular taste much, much better. We usually leave the filter in for 5 weeks rather than the 4 recommended. Buy filters when they are on offer to keep the cost down. Currently £20 for 6 (usually £30)in Waitrose, for example.

The indicator thing stopped working on ours some time ago but, as mentioned upthread, it doesn’t matter. I also use the cartridge for a lot longer than the instructions say. I bought it brand new, still in its box, from a charity shop for the princely sum of £2.
